Managing Change

Interestingly, I’ve been delivering several leadership trainings and group coaching sessions about managing change for different organizations recently (what a coincidence!). One of the questions I asked participants made me stop and reflect on my own journey too.
🌟 I’ve always considered myself someone who adapts to change quite easily… often even I am the person initiating it. I naturally look for opportunities, focus on what I can control and let go of what I can’t (after doing everything possible, of course).
And generally I do not resist… but there was one experience that changed my perspective.
Years ago, while working for a global organization in Dubai, the company went through a major restructuring just before I started my maternity leave. When I returned, everything felt different. My role had changed. My responsibilities had shifted. The familiar environment I had left behind no longer existed.
I resisted…
Not because I disliked change, but because I struggled with the impact it had on my identity, my role and my future.
After months of frustration, I had to make an important decision.
Looking back today, I realize that structural change became one of the biggest gifts in my career. It pushed me to think differently, build resilience and develop the courage to make decisions I might never have considered otherwise.
♥️ Without that experience, I don’t think I would be the coach, leader and business owner I am today.
Sometimes the change we resist the most is quietly preparing us for the next chapter of our lives.
❓❓What is one change you worried about at the time but now appreciate because of where it led you?
